Subject: Cheshire Air Quality Issue

Deputy Warmington,

The Cheshire Barracks had water issues back in 2015 as the roof was leaking and in need of replacement.

An indoor air quality assessment was done by Environmental Compliance Services Inc. and the report dated March 20, 2015 is attached.  Remediation of the areas was completed by Clean Harbors in April 2015.  The roof replacement was completed in November 2015.  (Attached is a To-From with a timeline of the events from 2015.)

ESC returned in November 2015 with Air Duct Services to perform an evaluation and complete cleaning of the HVAC ductwork for the building.  There was no evidence of mold growth issues in the buildings HVAC system at that time.  Their final report dated December 30, 2015 is attached.

In 2019 heat trace was added to the north side roof of the building to prevent ice dams as this side does not get much sun and the roof pitch is slight.  In additional electrical junction boxes on the back side of the building were relocated in 2019 to prevent any water penetration.

In January 2021 some of the heat trace did fail and they experience a minor leak due to ice dams but the situation was addressed.  The attached picture was forwarded to me from Joe Forest this morning that the issue of mold/indoor air quality was being brought up by SPAM.

Thank you.

Paul
