Thank you for detailing what is going on with this group. I know we need to get on a call and start to get this plan caught up as best we can and moving in the proper direction.
I know we all want to keep SPAM as a client and I hope we can figure out how to do this.
Thanks again for all your hard work and always communicating with all of us.
Talk soon

Michael,

Good afternoon.  I hope that you are doing well and staying safe.

We have a problem that I need to bring to you attention.

The Guardian’s contract for the Long Term Disability (LTD) is based on troopers W-2 earnings.  Each February we update the earnings of the troopers.  SPAM has sent SPAM-O-Grams out to let the troopers know that this is going on.  I have had troopers that send me their W-2 information.  I used the State of MA site for the most recent change for February 1, 2021.  On February 8th, 2021 I sent the update via email to Jeanine Hopkins and Michael Faiola(copy attached titled SPAM LTD updates for February 1, 2021).  In the past, I have not had any issues getting the troopers deductions updated.  I just learned that payroll never updated the increases for February 1, 2021.  This means that the premium is being underfunded.  I just got off the phone with Linda Turner and Penny O’Reilly who are in HR for the state police and they have let me know that there have been changes in the payroll area.  I am including the email that I received from Jeanine Hopkins o 6.24.21 (titled RE: SPAM LTD updates for February 1, 2021)

Guarding pays out an LTD  claim based on the W-2 earning that a troopers makes.  We are NOT collecting premium on that amount since the update was not made to the troopers paychecks.  I was NOT told that we need to collect a form from each trooper for the increase until I heard from Jennifer M. Staples, Chief Legal Counsel for the MA State Police on  6.22.21. I have attached the payroll deduction authorization form that was sent to me at that time.
