Subject: HELPER Act Endorsement

Hello,

I am writing to request your support for the Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act.

The HELPER Act is sponsored by Representatives John Rutherford (R-FL), Al Lawson (D-FL), Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), and John Katko (R-NY) in the House of Representatives and Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA) in the Senate.

It would honor police and corrections officers, professional firefighters, EMTs and paramedics, and preK-12 teachers by providing a federal home loan program similar to the popular VA home loan program available to our nations veterans. The HELPER Act would provide 100% financing and eliminate the required monthly mortgage insurance payment. This would empower these brave first responders who have sacrificed so much amidst the COVID-19 pandemic to purchase a home in the communities they serve at a more affordable price.

We already have support on the national level from the American Association of State Troopers, whose letters of support are attached. We also have support in Massachusetts from the Chiefs of Police Association. A list of endorsements, a list of Congressional supporters, and a brief overview of the bill can be found here

We are asking for your organization to join our effort to pass the bipartisan HELPER Act so that we may honor the first responders and educators who serve our communities. Attached you will find draft letters of support for the House and Senate. We would greatly appreciate if you could sign and return both copies to us with your letterhead. Feel free to edit the drafts to your liking.
